Job Description

Beverly Hospital’s Maternal Services department is proud to be Baby Friendly designated. The Maternal Newborn Service at Beverly Hospital provides full perinatal care in collaboration with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, including prenatal evaluation, intrapartum care, operative delivery care, postpartum care, maternal/newborn dyad care, and special care for premature and newborns requiring higher level care. The department fosters strong interdisciplinary collaboration among labor and delivery, postpartum, newborn nursery, level IIB special care nursery, parent education, and lactation consultation services.

The OB Clinical Practice Specialist (CPS) is a professional nurse and member of the nursing leadership team. The CPS implements the mission and philosophy of Northeast Hospital Corporation, promotes safe care, ensures OB clinical practice aligns with evidence‑based standards, and serves as consultant, teacher, and role model. The CPS contributes to patient care by developing and supporting nursing staff, collaborating with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team, and ultimately driving improvement in nursing practice.

Key responsibilities:

Consult on clinical practice and provide education to nursing staff.

Support research, quality improvement, and population management initiatives.

Supervise clinical practice of staff and educate, consult, and provide support.

Recommend improvements in standards of practice and advise direct care providers.

Participate in special projects and related duties.

Require labor and delivery experience.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Nursing required (or enrollment in the program).

Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration.

BLS required; ACLS preferred or to be obtained within 6 months.

National certification in specialty nursing preferred.

Experience in nursing education and quality improvement preferred.

Member of a relevant professional organization.

Current knowledge of evidence‑based practice, national standards, safety science, regulatory requirements.

Participation in professional development activities.

Demonstrated independence, decision‑making, and ability to address clinical problems through research and best practice.

Strong interpersonal skills and collaboration.

Ability to coordinate interdisciplinary educational programs via simulations and drills.

Excellent critical thinking skills.

Pay Range

– $79,435.00 USD – $174,595.00 USD (annual base salary; subject to factors such as seniority, education, certifications, geography, responsibilities, and permissible law).
