The 4-H & Youth Development Program Assistant plans, implements and evaluates a progressive series of educational programs and experiences that work toward multiple life skill outcomes such as leadership, citizenship, communications, personal life management and knowledge. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Performs the duties below; other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate.

Supports 4-H and Youth Development program in Harris County and assists with implementation of 4-H action plan.

Communicates effectively with members, families, volunteers and other staff.

Responsible for the recruitment and support of new and existing members and families.

Implement curriculum enrichment in schools, churches, or other youth serving organizations

Develops partnerships with relevant public and private organizations.

Secures public and private support through fundraising and local grants.

Gathers and prepares information to submit to media regarding events, activities and members.

Assists in the marketing, promotion and evaluation of 4-H Youth Development programs.

Plans and implements educational workshops for youth and volunteers related to 4-H programs.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's Degree.

Experience

A minimum of 2 years of experience with educational programs.

Licensure

Valid driver's license (Texas by hire date) and a safe driving record.

Note

2 years or more experience with educational programs, managing volunteers, working with youth

Speaking/teaching/education experience.

Working with diverse audiences.

Strong computer and Microsoft Office skills.

Strong organizational, written, and oral communications skills.

Hours

40 hours per week / Monday - Friday

Flexible Schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
