Join our Environmental Services team to help maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment across Ellis Hospital. This role includes specialized project work such as floor care (stripping, refinishing, carpet cleaning), bio-hazard handling, and routine facility cleaning using the Seven-Step Cleaning Process.

WHAT WILL YOU NEED TO BE A PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN?

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Minimum 12 months of healthcare or related housekeeping experience required

Floor care experience preferred

Ability to follow directions and work independently

Must meet physical requirements including lifting, pushing/pulling, and equipment use

WHAT WILL YOU DO AS AN ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES PROJECT WORKER?

Daily Cleaning & Sanitizing:

Perform routine cleaning in patient rooms, public areas, and surgical spaces

Follow the Seven-Step Cleaning Process

Handle general, medical, and hazardous waste

Specialty Floor Care:

Strip, refinish, scrub, and burnish various floor types

Perform carpet extraction, spot cleaning, and encapsulation

Maintain accurate logs of floor care work

Equipment Operation & Maintenance:

Operate buffers, auto-scrubbers, carpet extractors, and vacuums

Clean and maintain equipment, report maintenance needs

Communication & Collaboration:

Communicate with nursing staff, patients, and supervisors to coordinate cleaning needs

Respond promptly to discharge and emergency cleaning requests

Infection Control & Safety:

Follow all infection prevention and PPE guidelines

Practice proper hand hygiene and isolation protocols

Adhere to hospital and manufacturer equipment safety standards

Emergency & Project Work:

Assist with flood response and restoration efforts

Move and set up furniture and equipment as needed

Perform additional cleaning tasks and special projects as assigned

Salary Range: $16.40-$21.49/hour (Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location)
