About Worldwide Research and Development Our WWRD engine encompasses all bench and clinical research activities, supporting the development of first-in-class and best-in-class therapeutics for genetic diseases. The Medical Engagement Director is a strategic leadership role within Global Medical Affairs, focusing on external Medical engagement initiatives aligned with our long-term strategy and organizational roadmap. The role collaborates closely with the Medical Unit Global Medical Leads (GMLs), GMAF Medical Excellence Lead (MEMX), and other key stakeholders in the PKU/LSD therapeutic area. Reporting to the Medical Unit Head for Early Pipeline & PKU/LSDs, the key responsibilities include: Developing and executing the global medical engagement strategy for PKU/LSDs, aligned with the medical plan and in collaboration with GMLs, the medical unit team, and the GMAF medical excellence/medical engagement director. Creating engagement priorities, strategies, and plans with GMLs and country medical leads, including setting SMART objectives. Collaborating with the Medical Engagement Medical Excellence (MEMX) lead to develop execution and impact plans, KPIs, measurement tools, and communication strategies. Planning external medical expert engagement in partnership with medical leads and cross-functional teams. Executing the medical engagement strategy across prioritized countries, ensuring alignment with the medical unit. Aligning field resource development with strategic market needs. Leading the development of engagement strategies related to clinical trial data, publications, and key messages. Participating as a key member of the SMART team and the medical insights team, contributing to KSTs, KSQs, reporting, and insights sharing. Ensuring alignment with cross-functional partners including CLS, GCO, patient advocacy, and marketing teams. Collaborating with the Global Medical Engagement lead for Skeletal Conditions on pan-therapeutic initiatives. Desired Skills The ideal candidate will demonstrate mastery in communication, collaboration, scientific knowledge, medical management, strategic thinking, problem-solving, business acumen, drug development, and regulatory processes. They should: Be recognized as a capable team player and facilitator of information sharing. Foster product strategy relationships with key stakeholders. Possess subject matter expertise in relevant therapeutic areas. Understand cross-functional dependencies across drug development. Education and Experience
Advanced life science degree (doctoral or master's) with at least 4 years of relevant industry experience. Knowledge or experience in PKU/LSD is preferred. Experience in clinical science, medical affairs, or drug development is desired. Leadership experience, especially of field-based teams, is a plus. Work Environment This role requires approximately 25% travel, including international trips and occasional weekends.
