About The Position:
The Director of our newly forming Center for Instructional and Program Innovation (CIAPI) will focus on supporting university-wide efforts to advance innovative teaching across in-person, hybrid, and online courses. Leading the creation of online programs at both graduate and undergraduate levels, as well as supporting the implementation of online programs, certificates, and microcredentials is also expected. The Center will hold primary responsibility for supporting faculty in refining courses and helping departments create cohesive, high-quality online programs. The successful candidate will be expected to help create this center, effectively partnering with faculty governance and administration to develop policies and procedures using research-based instructional strategies that enhance student learning and program/course delivery, while still protecting faculty rights and academic freedoms. As the leader of CIAPI, the director will develop and implement a strategic plan for online education in alignment with the university's academic and strategic plans, overseeing budgets, resources, recommend staffing to support the growth and sustainability of online education programs, and be expected to supervise the Center's staff (initially planned for two or three positions). Other duties include chairing an online education committee and serving on the university's Academic Council. The Director will initially report to the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, and a strong, collaborative working relationship with the Chief Information Officer and ITS staff is also necessary. As part of the

division, this position will contribute to administratively building our university's commitment to student success through strong curriculum and excellent teaching. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree Three (3) years minimum of progressively responsible experience in online education Demonstrated ability to set priorities, analyze data, and think strategically and systematically Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational abilities, and problem-solving capabilities Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, including effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators
Preferred Qualifications: Master's or doctoral degree in a relevant field Six or more years of experience facilitating professional development in higher education, specific to helping faculty develop and implement effective instructional strategies, both online and on-site Three or more years managing budgets and leading teams for online program development and support Expertise specific to instructional design and online education including Brightspace and assessment tools similar to SUNY OSCQR, SUNY Online Scorecard Experience developing and implementing plans and policies via shared governance in a college or university setting
