Responsibilities The Director of Philanthropy, Major Gifts will be an experienced, take-charge professional with the ability to provide the vision, strategy and leadership in securing major gifts to support the Ivy Brain Tumor Center (IBTC). As a member of the Barrow Neurological Foundation development staff, you will be responsible for growing and maintaining a comprehensive major gifts program focused on attracting gifts in excess of $10,000 (or the defined major gift threshold). The Director builds strong relationships with major giving donors and prospects, and actively develops a major giving pipeline of larger gifts and increased revenue in support of the IBTC. This funding will be critical to the sustainability and success of the Ivy Brain Tumor Center, whose multidisciplinary team of brain tumor specialists and scientists are accelerating drug discovery and precision medicine in neuro-oncology in an effort to identify the most promising first-in-class therapies for brain tumor patients. Ivy Brain Tumor Center . You must be a highly energetic professional with a track record ofbuilding and maintainingeffective donor relationships.Must be able to develop strong personal relationships with key donors, enabling them to achieve their philanthropic goals along with aligning those goals with the goals of the Ivy Brain Tumor Center. Must also be capable of building strong internal relationships with theresearch andclinical staff of the Ivy Brain Tumor Center to leverage their experience and influence to closemajor gifts, in addition to gaining alignment with theleadership and founderof the Ivy Foundation to understand and adopt the overall philanthropic philosophy. This critical position reports directly to the President and Chief Philanthropy Officer of the Barrow Neurological Foundation. Principal Duties and Accountabilities: Responsible for successfully managing a portfolio of 100 individual and foundation donors and prospects. Secure major gifts of $10,000 or more, with a focus on six figure+ giftsutilizing numerous, different giving vehicles. Cultivate new prospects through the creation of effective donor management strategies. Effectively move a portfolio of prospects through the complete giving cycle of validation/qualification, engagement, cultivation, solicitation, gift negotiation and stewardship. Ability to utilize a CRM system to track and cultivate donors and prospects. Manage the ongoing relationship and stewardship of major donors including the proper execution of pledge programs, reporting and tracking of progress towards the donor’s intent. Integrate with physicians and researchers atIvy Brain Tumor Centerto both understand critical funding needs and, in turn, translate those needs into compelling narratives that attract the proper funding. Lead in the creation of proposals and grants for prospect meetings and solicitations. Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining strict attention to detail. Proficient in discussing legacy giving or estate planning with donors. Key Competencies Superior strategic and analytic thinking ability, along with strong creative problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal forms. Experience working effectively with Board members, volunteers, donorsandother external constituencies.

Qualifications Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of education and/or additional job-related experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree. Minimum Experience Required: Minimum five (5) years of not-for-profit fundraising and development experience. In addition three (3) to five (5) years' direct work experience as a fundraising professional with a major gift portfolio. Preferred: Master's Degree in a related field. Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). Demonstrated accomplishments in healthcare and/or research fundraising.
