Qualifications: Knowledge of basic cleaning, repair and maintenance of a school building. Ability to complete appointed tasks without the need for constant supervision. Other Qualifications as might be determined as necessary.
Performance Descriptors:
Keeps a careful watch over the building and grounds for any situation that could lead to injury or harm to students, staff or the general public. On a daily basis during the normal workweek, checks all rooms, windows, and doors for safety concerns. Keeps the building clean and attractive in appearance by performing daily, routine sweeping of floors, mopping of restrooms, and cleaning and disinfecting restroom fixtures, water fountains and high contact areas. Empties and removes garbage from the building and recycling containers and complies with all laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of any hazardous waste. Washes windows both inside and outside as frequently as necessary, weather permitting. Cleans classroom boards on a regular basis in accordance with proper maintenance procedures for each type of marking surface. Keeps the principal and the Director of Buildings and Grounds aware of all needed repairs. Reports damage to school property immediately. Removes graffiti as soon as detected. Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the school building each school day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off. Maintains supplies and equipment (e.g. cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuum, mops, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items required to properly stock facilities. Distributes supplies and equipment (e.g. fill soap dispensers, towel/toilet paper dispensers, etc.). Moves furniture and equipment as needed and as directed by the Director of Buildings and Grounds. Completes employer required training for the purpose of maintaining current knowledge regarding specific job and/or district, state and federal rules, regulations, policies and procedures and laws. Remains on the school premises during school hours, unless excused by Director of Buildings and Grounds, within reason, during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his/her attendance is required. Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment. Able to work cooperatively and pleasantly with peers, supervisors, parents, and children. Reports to work on time and maintains a good personal record of attendance. Follows Board policy at all times and performs any other related duties as assigned.
