Spirit FM is seeking a mission-driven and experienced broadcast professional to lead our programming efforts, serve as a vibrant on-air host, and ensure consistent brand messaging across all platforms.This full-time leadership role is vital to deepening listener engagement through uplifting, Christ-centered content while strengthening our digital and community presence. The ideal candidate will combine strong programming instincts, technical proficiency, and a passion for ministry to help fulfill our mission of leading people to Christ and nurturing believers in their faith. RESPONSIBILITIES : Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Partner with the Station Manager to develop and maintain effective programming strategies that align with audience research and station goals, while ensuring compliance with FCC requirements for NCE (noncommercial educational) stations. Oversee day-to-day station operations, including music scheduling, program logs, and the integration of satellite and digital content using NexGen, Zetta, or comparable automation systems. Host a weekday on-air show, crafting relevant, encouraging, and well-prepared content that resonates with our target audience. Provide weekend voice tracking and contributing to or hosting podcasts and digital features as assigned. Support cross-platform show engagement through creative social media and online content. Supervise and support on-air staff through recruitment, training, coaching, and performance evaluation. Manage on-air schedules and maintain regular communication with the Station Manager to ensure a cohesive and mission-aligned team culture. Ensure consistency of station imaging and messaging across all platforms—on-air, digital, and print. Oversee in-house production and promotional elements to maintain and strengthen the station’s brand identity. Lead efforts to grow and maintain an active, brand-consistent presence on digital platforms, including the station website, social media, and streaming outlets. Collaborate on content planning to increase audience interaction and engagement. Represent the station at events, concerts, and outreach activities. Create a welcoming and relatable presence that strengthens listener relationships and furthers the station’s community impact. Oversee traffic logs, account scheduling, and daily operational systems. Serve as the emergency contact for automation software and assist in resolving technical issues or programming discrepancies, including coordination with network partners such as Faith Radio. What will it take to succeed in this position? Minimum Education and Experience: Required: High School diploma or GED equivalent 3 years of experience in radio broadcasting Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement and Declaration of Christian Community

Nice to Have:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience Experience in a leadership or programming role Strong on-air presence and communication stills Knowledge of music scheduling, automation systems (e.g., NexGen, Zetta, MusicMaster), and production tools Experience managing or coaching talent preferred Familiarity with digital content strategies and social media best practices Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent communication and people skills with staff, listeners, and donors with ability to interact in a professional, courteous and tactful manner Strong on-air personality skills Ability to respond quickly and in a professional manner to time sensitive situations Ability to maintain a flexible schedule Ability to host events, speak in public, and represent the station in a variety of settings Ability to take initiative and work with little supervision Ability to prioritize tasks, meeting deadlines Knowledge and understanding of FCC rules and regulations as it pertains to broadcast stations Knowledge and understanding of legal and technical aspects of broadcasting Knowledge and understanding of computer skills at an intermediate level Ability to secure and maintain a current, valid driver’s license and automobile Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employment What are the benefits of working at Northwestern?
