Job Title: Senior Developer Location: Parsippany, NEW JERSEY Employment Type: Contract Job Summary: Seeking a skilled Java Developer with strong communication and collaboration abilities to support a strategic COBOL code conversion initiative. The successful candidate will work closely with Mainframe COBOL developers and leverage the IBM Watson X for Code Conversion tool to modernize legacy systems. Overall experience - 10+ years of experience developing Java applications Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with COBOL developers to understand legacy code and business logic. Utilize IBM Watson X for Code Conversion to assist in transforming COBOL code into modern Java-based applications. Analyze, refactor, and optimize converted code for performance and maintainability. Participate in code reviews, testing, and validation of converted modules. Document technical processes and provide knowledge transfer to team members. Mandatory Skills: Proficiency in Java development (Java 8 or higher) . Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional teams. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with non-Java/Mainframe teams. Familiarity with Mainframe environments and COBOL concepts. Experience or willingness to learn and work with IBM Watson X for Code Conversion or similar tools. Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
