The Virginia Transportation’s Information Technology Division seeks a Senior Security Architect to support VDOT leadership in Application, Data, and Technology Security through architecture development, reports, and security risk analyses. Responsibilities: Design and institutionalize enterprise security and technology patterns. Assist teams with initiatives, providing tactical and architectural guidance on legacy solutions. Evaluate new implementations, navigating organizational complexities, and presenting analyses and recommendations. Manage work independently, leveraging available resources. Assist in issue resolution, communicate concerns effectively, and extend security architecture practices. Create and socialize architecture artifacts such as standards, management briefs, security training, and process updates. Collaborate with business areas and enterprise architects to understand needs and provide strategic security consultation. Perform security compliance, risk analysis, and exception documentation tasks. Support vulnerability management and ensure data quality for remediation. Develop security artifacts for architecture roadmaps and ensure security measures are integrated. Research governance, controls, peer review processes, and project security considerations. Document process diagrams and scripts, and create technical documentation for diverse audiences. Align security policies and standards with architecture strategies. Partner with architects and technical teams to develop security roadmaps supporting KPIs. Required skills and experience: Experience in information security and IT risk management, focusing on security, performance, and reliability. Knowledge of federal/state compliance and standards review processes. Policy development and security architecture policy experience. Experience with security frameworks like NIST 800 Series, CSF, and COBIT. Technical expertise in areas such as Cloud, IAM, Vulnerability Management, Firewalls, Forensics, Databases, Collaboration Tools, and Web & Mail Services. Security design experience with strategic technology options. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify technical concepts and collaborate across teams. Experience working with management and external entities, explaining security measures and collaborating on security initiatives. Ability to adapt in fast-paced environments and quickly acquire new skills. Understanding of IT customer priorities and platform criticality. YSI is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
