The Bronx County District Attorney’s Office seeks a seasoned leader with broad experience to serve the diverse community of over 1.4 million Bronx residents and to promote a safer borough by “Pursuing Justice with Integrity.” The Conviction Integrity Bureau seeks an experienced attorney with ten plus years of experience to serve as the Deputy Bureau Chief. The primary focus of the Conviction Integrity Bureau is to investigate claims of actual innocence and wrongful conviction and to identify potential systemic issues. The Assistant District Attorneys in the Bureau also review clemency petitions and Domestic Violence Survivor Justice Act (DVSJA) post‑conviction motions for resentencing, and lead trainings on best practices to avoid wrongful convictions. The Deputy Bureau Chief will report directly to the Bureau Chief and play a key leadership role in supervising and managing staff and all aspect of the Bureau’s work. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader who can balance legal and investigative skills with the ability to mentor staff, streamline processes, and build a culture that aligns with DA Clark’s vision of justice with integrity.

Responsibilities

Directly supervise Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs), investigators, and designated staff.

Oversee all facets of the work of the CIB.

Provide coaching, performance evaluation and feedback, and professional development to ensure high standards of work.

Assist in leading and managing the day‑to‑day operations of the Bureau.

Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and problem‑solving.

Create and provide trainings for BXDA ADAs about ethical prosecutions and best prosecutorial practices to avoid wrongful convictions.

Advise leadership on policy issues related to preventing wrongful convictions.

Handle select cases and investigations.

Prepare detailed legal memoranda and recommendations for the Bureau Chief and Executives.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor and admission to practice law in New York State.

Minimum of ten (10) years of prosecutorial, defense, or equivalent New York State criminal law experience, including significant felony practice.

Minimum of four (4) investigating criminal cases in a post‑conviction posture, ideally as a prosecutor in a conviction review unit.

Demonstrated leadership experience.

Strong understanding of New York Penal Law and Criminal Procedure Law (Especially CPL Article 440).

Excellent judgment, ethics, and decision‑making skills under pressure.

Outstanding analytical and communication skills, both oral and written.

Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to manage complex projects and competing priorities.

The ability to lead a team through adversity and challenges.

Demonstrated commitment to justice, integrity, and ethical decision‑making.

Additional Requirements

U.S. citizenship and New York State residency.
