The work The Federal Cost Accounting Standards Subject Matter Expert will be responsible for requirement gathering, blueprinting, and assisting configuration and implementation of the cost accounting business process within ERP (i.e., SAP) for U.S. government agencies or their contractors. This role ensures that cost accounting practices comply with federal regulations, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
Key responsibilities
Ensure all cost accounting practices adhere to FAR, CAS, and other federal guidelines, including the proper segregation of direct, indirect, and overhead costs.
Support cost recovery, manage annual rate establishment, and analyze profitability across different government contracts.
Assist in the design, configuration, and implementation of SAP CO modules including Cost Center Accounting, and Product Costing from a CAS expert perspective.
Work as CAS Subject Matter Expert and translate federal government accounting and business requirements into functional SAP S/4HANA designs by closely working with SAP CO experts.
Collaborate with other teams to integrate cost data with related SAP modules like SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), Project Systems (PS), Funds Management (FM), and Finance (FI).
Conduct testing, troubleshoot system issues, and provide ongoing support for cost accounting processes.
Prepare and present financial reports for stakeholders.
Here’s what you need
4+ years of experience with Cost Modelling in a total cost recovery environment, leveraging and determining overhead rates and indirect costs in an ERP environment.
Consulting or direct experience with federal agencies or government contractors.
Deep understanding of cost accounting principles, as well as federal regulations such as FAR, CAS, and GAAP.
Nice to have
Experience with SAP, preferably S/4HANA, in a cost accounting or financial management role.
Knowledge of the SAP Controlling (CO) module and its integration with other SAP modules, such as FI, PS, FM, and Materials Management (MM).
Relevant SAP Certifications, such as S/4HANA Financial Accounting.
Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Eligibility Requirements
U.S. Citizens only (no dual citizenship).
Eligibility to obtain a Public Trust government clearance.
Ability to travel 25% to the client site.
As required by local law, Accenture Federal Services provides reasonable ranges of compensation for hired roles based on labor costs in various states. The base pay range for this position is $108,400–$203,400 USD. Compensation varies depending on location, role, skill set, and experience.
