Approx. four months of training at Block Imaging’s headquarters in Holt, Michigan.

Out‑of‑state candidates receive a housing allowance to help cover short‑term accommodations; local candidates within a 75‑mile radius may also qualify.

Training focuses on electronics, computer networking, X‑ray theory, hands‑on X‑ray equipment, and supervised field work with experienced engineers.

General Job Description The Field Service Engineer Apprentice supports the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems under the guidance of experienced Field Service Engineers. This position provides hands‑on technical training and mentorship designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies required for a successful career in field service engineering. The apprentice will participate in structured learning programs and field assignments to gain practical experience across a variety of service environments.

Essential Functions And Job Duties

Service, maintain, and repair medical imaging equipment at various customer locations.

Evaluate equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform preventive maintenance, installations, calibrations, and repairs to ensure systems meet OEM specifications and customer expectations.

Diagnose and resolve electronic, mechanical, and network‑related problems under the direction of senior engineers, continuously developing technical skills and industry knowledge.

Document service activities, procedures, and best practices; assist in training and educating end users on proper equipment operation and maintenance.

Communicate effectively with management and team members by providing project updates, reporting issues, and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Provide professional, courteous, and knowledgeable on‑site representation of the company, maintaining strong customer relationships.

Support continuous improvement by sharing field feedback, contributing to process enhancements, and pursuing ongoing learning in new technologies and repair methods.

Other duties as assigned.

Legal & Licensing

Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record.

Must be 21 years of age or older to operate company vehicles.

Must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, criminal background check, and drug screening.

Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) medical exam and, if required, a written test to operate rental trucks or fleet vehicles.

Must comply with on‑the‑job driver safety training when operating company or rental vehicles.

Education Or Relevant Experience

Associate degree in a technical discipline such as electronics, mechanical engineering, computer technology, or a related field.

Equivalent military training or experience in a technical specialty may also be considered.

Minimum of one year of hands‑on mechanical and/or electrical experience.

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude through a combination of work experience and/or relevant training.

Physical Requirements

Frequent physical activities including bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, kneeling, and twisting.

Occasional lifting and/or pushing/pulling of equipment or materials weighing between 25 and 75 lbs.

Regular use of hands and fingers for keyboarding, phone work, and handling tools or components.

Periods of sitting for administrative tasks, documentation, and communication.

Travel Requirements This position will involve up to 50 percent travel; flexibility to travel when needed is required.

Environmental Expectations

Moderate noise levels are common; occasional exposure to loud noises may occur but typically does not require hearing protection.

Physical activity that often requires exposure to machinery.

Occasional exposure to hazardous materials; appropriate safety protocols and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are provided and must be followed.

The Base Pay Range For This Position Is

Hourly rate during training: $25 per hour.

Base pay once in the field: $68,000 - $78,000.

Base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Block Imaging offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay.
