The Staff RN uses the nursing process to deliver nursing care to a given patient care population as it relates to the care setting. Nursing care is based on the interpretation and execution of the medical and nursing plan of treatment utilizing established procedures standards and protocols of individuals within the assigned work shift. The Staff RN provides nursing care to the population served in the unit.

Department Specific Competencies
Schedules patients for procedures and organizes schedule to accommodate contaminated cases, emergency, and routine procedures with physician schedules.
Provides information and support for a patient who is making a decision regarding health care.
Ensures consent is correctly obtained and documented prior to treatment/procedure.
Communicates working knowledge, function, availability and location of all endoscopy equipment
Demonstrates knowledge of anesthetic agents, continuously evaluating the patient's progress toward recovery from anesthesia.
Performs portable procedures in high stress environments includes Intensive Care Units, Surgery Suite and Emergency Room.
Assists the physician with procedures and care of the GI patient. Anticipates needs of physician during procedures.
Provides patient comfort measures prior to, during and after procedures.
Recovers patients post procedure according to policy and procedure.
Transports and moves patients using appropriate body mechanics and safety precautions. Demonstrates knowledge and practice of safe patient handling devices.
Completes all assigned procedures in a timely manner and uses time between procedures to department advantage assisting others, clerical duties, stocking, transporting, etc
Maintains appropriate inventory and par levels on all supplies, ordering and restocking endoscopy rooms, carts and department.
Monitors and reports to the Unit Lead any patient or family complaints, intervening before issues arise and implements service recovery strategies as needed.
Pre‑cleans endoscopic equipment on completion, cleans and disinfects equipment and accessories to established policies and procedures
Uses basic radiology and fluoroscopy practices and wear pratictine equipment correctly.
Completes required documentation in EMR and departmental log books in a timely manner.
Assumes the responsibility of leadership position in absence of Lead RN or supervisor.
Moves the patient or body part to promote surgical exposure while reducing the risk of discomfort and complications.
Assumes on‑call status and call back as assigned, responding within 30 minutes of receiving call.
Education Degree: College Diploma Nursing
Experience Number of Years Experience: 2 clinical experience in a hospital setting
Additional Information: 1 year of endoscopy experience in an outpatient or hospital setting
License / Certification Requirements PALS Certification. ACLS Certification Registered Nurse License BCLS or ACLS Certification
Compensation Range $54.47 - $80.45 / Hour
