Headhunting & Advising for Hard Tech Startups | Climate, Space, Defense | AdAstra Talent Advisors
Direct message the job poster from AdAstra Talent Advisors.
About AdAstra AdAstra Talent Advisors is a boutique firm which partners with elite startups to headhunt for their most critical technical roles in Hard-tech: Space, Climate, Defense.
About the Company Our client is an advanced climate tech company developing next-generation high-power systems with the goal of enabling scalable, reliable, and cost-effective clean energy infrastructure. They focus on rapid prototyping, iterative hardware development, and solving complex engineering challenges through hands‑on experimentation rather than theoretical modeling alone.
This is a direct hire, permanent placement position for a client of AdAstra Talent Advisors. More company details will be shared during an initial call.
About the Role Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design and support high-voltage and high-current pulsed power systems used in advanced energy platforms. You will work on fast transient electrical systems, high-power delivery hardware, and complex switching networks that operate at extreme power levels.
You’ll collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams across power electronics, magnetics, controls, and high-energy systems to bring new generations of hardware from concept to commissioning.
Responsibilities
Design, test, and troubleshoot high-voltage pulsed power systems used to drive large inductive and high-energy loads
Lead architecture, procurement, build, and commissioning of systems operating at tens of kilovolts and mega-ampere-class currents (sub-millisecond pulses)
Develop electrical schematics, system-level architecture, and installation documentation
Perform design reviews and propose cost-effective and scalable engineering solutions
Collaborate with system operators during commissioning and lifetime operation of prototype hardware
Apply rigorous engineering practices around schedule, risk, cost, and resource planning
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team-wide technical development
Requirements
8+ years of experience in power systems, pulsed power, or advanced power electronics
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field
Experience designing, building, and testing electronic systems
Strong understanding of power semiconductor behavior (IGBTs, MOSFETs, SCRs) and fast-switching topologies
Proficiency with electrical troubleshooting and lab equipment (oscilloscopes, pulse generators, E-loads, spectrum analyzers)
Experience with simulation and design tools (LTSpice, Altium, MATLAB, SIMtrex/Simplis, etc.)
Additional Information
The role involves working around high energy electrical systems and in areas containing high magnetic fields. Safety is the utmost priority with our client and the candidate must be willing and able to work safely in these environments.
Logistical Requirements
Onsite role based in the Seattle, WA Metro Area
Due to the nature of the technology, applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals under 22 CFR §120.15, or otherwise eligible under U.S. export-control regulations.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this role is $170,000–$190,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Candidates may also be eligible for up to a $30K sign-on bonus and up to a $20K relocation package.
Meaningful equity program
30+ days PTO
Company winter break
Up to 5% 401(k) match
Paid parental leave
Annual wellness stipend
Short- and long-term disability, life insurance
