Location Remote, but must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Opportunity As a Growth Product Manager for ToolHive, you'll lead efforts to amplify developer adoption and make ToolHive the default platform for building with MCP. The role focuses on driving top‑of‑funnel growth, boosting GitHub stars, contributor engagement, and downloads by designing scalable, community‑powered growth strategies. You'll be hands‑on in architecting compounding growth loops, refining onboarding flows, and building programs that welcome developers at every stage. Working side‑by‑side with engineering, design, marketing, and DevRel teammates to launch data‑driven initiatives and champion a seamless developer experience. You'll gather feedback from the open‑source community and translate it into meaningful product improvements.
What Success Looks Like (First 6‑12 months)
Rapid Product & Developer‑Experience Fluency:
Within the first 3 months, establish fluency in ToolHive’s architecture, developer workflows, and onboarding journey, enabling early identification of high‑leveraged growth opportunities.
Culture of Experimentation:
Launch multiple top‑of‑funnel growth experiments, yielding high‑impact learnings and measurable improvements.
Reduced Onboarding Friction:
Shorten time‑to‑value for new developers by rapidly addressing key blockers to improve activation rates.
Accelerated Developer Growth:
Drive clear gains in GitHub stars, contributors, downloads, and developer signups.
Community‑Driven Product Improvement:
Shape roadmap and product decisions based on insights from GitHub issues, community feedback, and analytics.
In This Role, You Will
Benchmark ToolHive’s growth against leading OSS and developer tools.
Monitor and report on key growth funnel metrics using dashboards and analytics platforms.
Develop and implement data‑driven experiments that increase GitHub stars, repository activity, downloads, usage, and signups.
Lead enhancements to developer onboarding, optimizing documentation, quickstarts, and tutorials.
Collect and translate community feedback into features and roadmap priorities.
Partner closely with engineering, DevRel, and marketing to coordinate product launches, events, campaigns, and advocacy initiatives.
Desired Skills & Experience
Direct experience as a growth/product manager for developer tools, APIs, SDKs, or OSS projects.
Fluent with developer ecosystems, OSS contribution models, repo management, community norms, and roadmap transparency.
Demonstrated engagement with developer communities: GitHub issues/PRs, Discord, Slack, live conferences/events.
Strong technical acumen, comfortable reading technical docs, trying APIs/CLIs, and working closely with engineers.
Experience designing/iterating onboarding flows, docs, quickstarts, and engagement campaigns.
Proven record of running data‑driven growth experiments, tracking funnel metrics, diagnosing adoption blockers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences.
Comfortable operating independently in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments.
Base Salary Range $124,000 – $186,000
