Apply for the
Lead Mechanical Engineer
role at
Climate People .
Base Pay Range $150,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr
About the Company A pioneering climate‑tech company developing next‑generation subsurface energy systems to make natural resource recovery more sustainable and water‑efficient. Their patented technology uses electric stimulation to enhance underground permeability, offering a precise, low‑impact alternative to traditional hydraulic fracturing. The team is multidisciplinary, blending geophysics, high‑voltage engineering, and mechanical design to unlock geothermal, geologic hydrogen, and carbon‑storage opportunities.
Your Impact You will lead mechanical and electro‑mechanical design for advanced downhole energy‑delivery systems operating in extreme high‑temperature and high‑pressure environments.
Architect structural and mechanical systems that integrate seamlessly with electrical assemblies
Conduct FEA/CFD modeling for stress, vibration, and heat transfer in HPHT environments
Design and qualify pressure vessels, housings, and enclosures per ASME/API standards
Lead a small mechanical team—setting priorities, reviewing designs, and mentoring junior engineers
Collaborate cross‑functionally with electrical and power‑electronics teams to achieve robust system performance
Oversee prototype builds from concept to field deployment, ensuring manufacturability and test readiness
Support field campaigns, commissioning, and troubleshooting mechanical systems (~10‑20% travel)
About You
Master’s or PhD (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical, Electro‑Mechanical, or Materials Engineering
7+ years’ experience designing and validating complex mechanical or structural systems for energy, utilities, or industrial equipment
Proven leadership experience and ability to manage cross‑functional technical projects
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and ANSYS or COMSOL for simulation and analysis
Expertise in HPHT materials, sealing, and pressure‑vessel design
Hands‑on approach and comfort working in prototype environments
Excellent communicator, able to bridge mechanical, electrical, and geoscience teams
Bonus:
