Job Description Under limited supervision, creates basic to highly complex instrumentation, controls and related systems designs using 3D and 4D drafting programs. Develops basic technical memoranda related to design issues for clients. Prepares preliminary design reports (PDRs) under supervision. Reviews component‑level shop drawings. Provides responses to RFIs under supervision. Performs FATs and field inspections. Creates HMI designs, PLCs, reports and level of effort estimates. Leads testing and startup teams for basic to moderately complex instrumentation, controls and related systems independently with minimal supervision. Oversees documentation completion and quality assurance filing. Assists with the development of operations & maintenance manuals and end‑user training. Mentors junior staff and reviews their work. Performs other duties as required and assists with proposal development and presentation.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology or related discipline. Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passage of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam (within 18 months of hire or promotion/transfer) in states where an EIT is not obtainable. Five years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with P&IDs, Autocad electrical, and various control systems (e.g., Rockwell, ABB, Siemens)
Control hardware selection, system architecture, panel layouts
Proficient in programming Allen Bradley Studio 5000, Emerson Delta V, Honeywell Experion, FactoryTalk View, Ignition Wonderware
Amount Of Travel Required 5%
Skills And Abilities Expert knowledge of instrumentation, controls and related system designs. Excellent communication skills. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Expert knowledge of 3D and 4D CAD drafting.
