About the Role This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of the Banana Republic Women’s Merchandising organization and its goals; delivering value through building high‑performing teams and balancing innovation, quality, and costs that meet the brand’s long‑term global vision.

As VP, you will lead a team of Merchandising professionals, manage direct reports (Sr. Directors and Directors), and partner closely with Design, Planning, Product Development, and other cross‑functional teams to execute the product pipeline, improve gross margin, increase inventory optimization, and drive SG&A efficiencies.

You will develop, communicate, and drive long‑range strategies, build strong relationships with the leadership team and key functional leaders, inspire and motivate talent, and be accountable for achieving business objectives through product differentiation, customer response, and financial performance.

Location: San Francisco, CA (Remote options are not indicated). Reports directly to the Head of Merchandising & Inventory Management.

Salary Range:

$300,000 – $340,000 USD (Pay varies by qualifications, experience, and location; minimum wage and state requirements apply).

What You’ll Do

Independently lead the overall vision and strategy for BR Women’s business; accountable for final decision‑making.

Empower direct reports to lead functional strategies and deliver on broader business objectives.

Sign off on the operational strategy (short‑ and long‑term) to execute the brand‑wide long‑range plan.

Provide perspective on market opportunities and alignment with internal strengths.

Lead, direct, and develop the Merchandising team through all product development stages.

Product Affinity

Lead the team in creating strong product assortments that deliver on BR’s goals, focusing on key initiatives.

Ensure product assortments across all departments are aligned and non‑duplicative.

Deliver seasonal strategies that provide an exciting omni‑experience and support brand/ division goals.

Listen actively to cross‑functional team members to surface innovative ideas and empower ownership.

Create a seamless omni experience through collaborative assortment, promotional, visual, and marketing strategies.

Business Acumen

Sign off on and enable execution of product LRP strategies.

Partner with leadership to manage and react to business in the moment, ensuring sales, profit, and demand goals are met.

Guide the team through pre‑season process and milestone meetings, including strategic alignment and investment reviews.

Provide clear leadership on seasonal investments to support financial targets.

Partner with Marketing, Visual Merchandising, and Site Merchandising to ensure a cohesive consumer experience.

Collaborate with Inventory Management on seasonal investment strategy by market.

People & Leadership

Motivate, coach, and inspire the broader team; role model positive, solution‑oriented leadership.

Build strong relationships with cross‑functional partners and champion peer‑to‑peer development.

Align resources to build an organization set for success.

Who You Are

Experience as a business leader in a apparel product brand with major business functions (IM, Merchandising, Stores, etc.).

15+ years of retail experience; VP‑level experience required.

10+ years of management experience.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
