The Department of Pediatrics at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) is seeking a MD/DO physician candidate to provide direct patient care in the Division of Emergency Medicine (EM). The physician candidate will be board certified/board eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. The candidate will receive an academic faculty appointment commensurate with achievement and will participate in the educational, patient care, research and other academic activities of the Department of Pediatrics. In addition to clinical and teaching responsibilities, there may be opportunities to participate in research in areas of interest with other faculty members. The physician will join 10 full time faculty members who provide 24/7 in-house EM coverage. The candidate may also have the opportunity to participate in either clinical or lab-based research.
Direct patient care in the pediatric emergency department.
Educational duties including teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
Participation in faculty research projects and academic activities.
Assuming a 24/7 in-house coverage schedule with 10 full‑time faculty colleagues.
Qualifications: MD/DO with board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Commitment to full‑time faculty duties and 24/7 in‑house coverage.
The clinical services of the Division of Emergency Medicine are conducted at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) in New Brunswick, NJ, contiguous with the Bristol Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital (BMSCH). The Pediatric Emergency Department is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center. BMSCH is a 105‑bed acute care hospital located on the only pediatric academic health campus in New Jersey. The BMSCH is ranked as one of America’s Best Hospitals by U.S. News and World Report.
Adjacent to the Children’s Hospital is the PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital, one of the country’s largest inpatient acute rehabilitation hospitals for children. Across the street is the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey – the only NCI‑designated center in the state – and the Ronald MacDonald House. As the state’s premiere institution, there are many opportunities to collaborate across campuses with all health professional schools and biomedical science schools at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.
