Our people are the heartbeat of our success, and we’re searching for a
Principal Data Analytics Engineer
to bring clarity, stability, and next-level scalability to our rapidly evolving data ecosystem. This is a true principal-level role for someone who thrives on solving ambiguity, modernizing legacy workflows, and architecting high-performance analytics foundations across BigQuery, dbt, and Looker Studio.
We believe data is more than numbers - it's the story that drives smarter inventory decisions, financial performance, and meaningful client growth. Come help us tell that story.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead the architecture, refactoring, and optimization of end-to-end data pipelines across
BigQuery, dbt, and Looker Studio .
Untangle legacy workflows, undocumented lineage, circular data flows, and brittle integrations to build a future-ready data foundation.
Implement high-reliability data quality frameworks, observability layers, and monitoring systems in GCP.
Architect Scalable, Intelligent Data Systems
Own BigQuery performance optimization through smart partitioning, clustering, caching, and warehouse tuning.
Develop reliable ingestion and transformation patterns for
large-scale, messy, multi-source environments .
Establish and enforce best practices for dbt structure, testing, documentation, version control, and maintainability.
Lead with Deep Technical Expertise
Serve as the company’s principal technical authority across SQL, Python, dbt, and data modeling.
Provide mentorship, code reviews, and architectural guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
Balance hands‑on engineering with high‑level strategy to shape Luminize’s modern data roadmap.
Drive Business Impact Through Smart Data Architecture
Partner with leadership and stakeholders to translate ambiguous business questions into actionable insights and scalable data solutions.
Champion data governance, metadata management, and clear documentation to increase visibility and reduce technical debt.
Identify automation opportunities to eliminate manual processes and improve operational efficiency across the company.
What We're Looking For Education & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
8+ years
in data engineering or analytics engineering, with
3+ years
in a senior or principal-level capacity.
Technical Mastery
Deep expertise in
dbt (Core + Cloud)
including macros, advanced architecture, testing, and documentation standards.

SQL
(BigQuery dialect preferred), with a track record of diagnosing and fixing poorly performing models.
Proven experience architecting, scaling, and optimizing
BigQuery
environments with performance/cost strategies.
Strong
Python
skills for automation, orchestration (Cloud Composer/Airflow), and integration workflows.
Data Architecture & Modeling Expertise
Strong understanding of modern data stack tooling and analytical data modeling methodologies.
Experience working in
ambiguous, legacy-heavy
environments where systems must be untangled, restructured, and modernized.
Familiarity with data observability, cataloging, and lineage tools.
Leadership & Communication
Proven ability to mentor, guide, and level-up junior engineers.
Excellent communication skills — able to translate complex data concepts to technical and non-technical teams.
Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable balancing multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
