MaineHealth Behavioral Health (MHBH) is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) psychiatrist to join our team in Biddeford, Maine, with a unique opportunity to work across two levels of care. The position includes:
2 days per week at our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) located at 235 Main Street, and
3 days per week in our Ambulatory Outpatient Program, part of our Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) for York County, located at 2 Springbrook Drive.
This hybrid role offers the opportunity to provide both intensive, short-term psychiatric care and longer-term outpatient treatment within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
About the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): The PHP bridges the gap between inpatient and outpatient care, offering an alternative to hospitalization for individuals who require more intensive treatment than traditional outpatient visits. The program provides:
Structured, group-based therapy focused on emotional regulation, cognitive restructuring, and wellness
Individualized treatment planning with specific tracks and lengths of stay
A dedicated track for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
A multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses
A focus on reducing psychiatric symptoms and preventing inpatient hospitalization
The selected psychiatrist will lead the interdisciplinary PHP team, conduct psychiatric evaluations, manage medications, and guide treatment planning in collaboration with primary care clinicians and psychiatric nursing staff.
About the Outpatient Program: The MHBH Ambulatory Outpatient Program in Biddeford is a key component of our CCBHC model, which ensures timely access to comprehensive, coordinated behavioral health services for individuals and families in York County. Services include:
Psychiatric evaluation and medication management
Individual & family therapy, peer support services, and care coordination
Trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approaches
Support for co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions
Telehealth and hybrid care options
