Position Summary:
Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments., Prepare items for shipment. Duties include assembling, addressing, stamping, and shipping merchandise or material; receiving, unpacking, verifying, and recording incoming merchandise or material; arranging for the transportation of products.
Essential Functions: Examine contents and compare with records such as purchase orders, orders, packing lists, manifests, or invoices, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment. Prepare documents, such as bills of lading and shipping labels to route materials. Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes. Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. Deliver or route materials to departments, using work devices, such as hand truck, conveyor, or sorting bins. Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using work devices such as hand tools and UPS or FedEx computer systems. Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications. Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock. Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials. Compute amounts, such as space available, and shipping, storage, and demurrage charges, using calculator or price list. Unpack received shipments and organize - transferring stock items to correct shelves. Accurately pick and pack customer orders within 24 hours of the printed packing list. Perform routine cycle counts to ensure inventory is correct. Address and correct incorrect inventory counts. Repackage specified materials into approved containers while observing all OSHA safety regulations. Deliver "our carry" deliveries to customers and get a signature from the customer for proof of delivery. Education & Experience:
Education: High school graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience: No prior experience necessary, 1-3 years warehouse experience preferred
Computer Skills: Must adapt easily to new systems.
