The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) is a state agency dedicated to helping Mississippians with disabilities to live and work independently. MDRS serves through four major programs: Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (VRB), Office of Special Disability Programs (OSDP), and Disability Determination Services (DDS). Services also include support through Assistive Technology, the Office of Business Development and much more. It is the mission of MDRS to provide appropriate and comprehensive services in a timely and effective manner. Programs and services assist individuals with disabilities to gain employment, retain employment, and to live independently. About the Position This position is with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (OVRB) and will function as the Business Enterprise Program (BEP) Training Director. The employee will work under the leadership of the OVRB Director and will be responsible for establishing, planning, organizing, and training BEP staff and vendors. The BEP Training Director will design and create instructional materials and evaluation instruments that measure the effectiveness of training and the achievement of instructional objectives and knowledge transfer.The position will coordinate and develop policies and administrative procedures related to the operation of the BEP. The BEP Training Director will maintain accurate records of training scheduled, attended, and completed. The Training Director will compile and submit monthly calendars and reports to the Director of OVRB. Training will be facilitated in group settings as well as in one-on-one settings. The BEP Training Director will network with other blind professionals throughout the state, attend trainings or certificate programs related to this position, and may require SafeServe Certification.The position requires frequent travel, including some overnight. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary to accomplish the agency’s Office of the Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind goals.This position requires a level of knowledge necessary to support curriculum design make recommendations for changes to training and implement changes, as approved. What you'll need to be Successful Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with staff and supervisors/directors in a professional manner to provide clear delivery of instructional training.
