Base Pay USD 33.00 – 45.00 per hour
Purpose The Mobile Diesel Maintenance Technician will diagnose problems and perform identified repairs and preventive maintenance services on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty vehicles with minimal supervision using a mobile service truck.
Key Relationships The Technician reports to the PacLease service management team and communicates daily with managers, coworkers, and customers.
Responsibilities
Maintain heavy‑duty and medium‑duty vehicles to ensure safety for customers.
Perform preventive maintenance on truck and trailer equipment with limited supervision.
Repair and troubleshoot major components (engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, fuel system components, basic vehicle diagnostics).
Keep work area clean and safe, maintaining a tidy shop environment.
Participate in Peterbilt technician training to learn new skills.
Execute additional projects and tasks as assigned.
Complete repairs within allocated time.
Return cores to parts and tag/warranty parts properly.
Coordinate with rear parts counter for needed parts.
Maintain proper tool inventory, including hand and air tools.
Leave customer’s vehicle in the same or cleaner condition; use seat covers and floor mats.
Escalate additional repairs to Service Manager.
Act professionally, prioritizing the customer and safety.
General Requirements
At least 2 years of hands‑on truck/tractor‑trailer maintenance experience.
High school diploma or equivalent (vocational/technical certification in vehicle repair preferred).
Specialized training in diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components; OEM training courses; ASE and 609 certifications.
Proficiency with tools of the trade, including welding equipment and diagnostic devices.
Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
Problem‑solving and excellent customer‑service skills.
Team‑player ability and willingness to work in non‑climate‑controlled conditions.
Basic computer skills.
Full‑time, predictable attendance.
Willingness to travel within the district and to training sites, and to work required schedule.
