Position Overview WFTV Channel 9 is Central Florida’s leading source for local news, investigative journalism, and breaking information across broadcast and digital platforms. We’re seeking a strategic, innovative Digital Executive Producer to help elevate our digital presence and lead our next generation of multiplatform storytelling.
The Digital Executive Producer (DEP) leads WFTV’s digital news strategy and oversees all content published across web, app, OTT, and social platforms. This role requires a newsroom leader who can blend editorial judgment, audience insights, and digital innovation. The DEP manages digital producers and collaborates closely with broadcast producers, reporters, and managers to ensure WFTV remains first, fastest, and most accurate online.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead day‑to‑day digital coverage, including breaking news, enterprise content, and live updates across all platforms
Assign, supervise, and coach digital producers, ensuring accuracy, urgency, and strong editorial standards
Develop and execute digital content strategies to drive audience growth, engagement, and loyalty
Manage homepage, mobile app, and push alerts with strong decision‑making during high‑volume news events
Collaborate with the newsroom to integrate digital storytelling into broadcast workflows and improve cross‑platform coordination
Oversee social media strategy, including tone, posting cadence, live streams, and engagement tactics
Leverage analytics (e.g., Chartbeat, Google Analytics, social insights, Crowdtangle) to inform content decisions and optimize performance
Create and refine workflows that support speed, accuracy, and impactful digital journalism
Ensure SEO best practices are followed for headlines, tagging, and story structure
Participate in long‑term planning, special coverage, digital exclusives, and audience‑first initiatives
Uphold WFTV’s standards for accuracy, ethics, and brand voice across all digital platforms
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Digital Media, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Proven ability to manage breaking news in a fast‑paced, multitasking environment
Strong editorial judgment with a deep understanding of digital audiences and content performance
Expertise in SEO, analytics tools, CMS workflows, and social media publishing platforms
Understanding of AP Style, media law, and ethical journalism standards
Strong communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as news demands
Preferred Qualifications
3–5+ years of experience in a digital news environment, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred
