Penn State Health Children’s Hospital Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology is seeking a
Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist Nocturnist . The Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Nocturnist will provide high-quality overnight inpatient care to children undergoing treatment for cancer or hematologic conditions, serving as the dedicated on-site physician for clinical management, admissions, and urgent evaluations. This role includes leading evening rounds with the nursing team to ensure clear communication, care coordination, and early identification of changes in patient status. The nocturnist will also participate actively in resident and fellow education through bedside teaching, case discussions, and support of clinical decision-making during overnight hours. As a key member of the pediatric oncology care team, the nocturnist fosters a collaborative, family-centered environment that upholds safety, compassion, and excellence in care.
Who we are:
We are a division of 14 physicians (12 full time), 5 NP/PA’s, and one psychologist
Our division has a full complement of ancillary staff including excellent administrative support, social workers, dietician/nutritionist, 8 nurse coordinators and 10 clinical research staff.
Our hematology clinical programs include a state-supported sickle cell program, hemophilia treatment center, young women’s bleeding clinic, and hemostasis/thrombosis clinic.
Our clinical oncology programs include expertise in treating leukemia, lymphoma, and solid tumors as well as specialized programs for neurofibromatosis, genetic predisposition syndromes, neuro-oncology, survivorship, and adolescent/young adult (AYA) oncology
We have an outpatient clinic connected to the pediatric infusion center in the Penn State Children’s Hospital and outreach clinics in Reading and Lancaster
Our patients our hospitalized in an 18-bed Pediatric Hematology-Oncology unit in the Penn State Children’s Hospital
Our clinical and research efforts are supported by Four Diamonds, the Children’s Miracle Network and the Beat Childhood Cancer Foundation
What we’re seeking:
Training or with adequate experience in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology interested in a nocturnist position.
M.D., D.O., or foreign equivalent
Ability to acquire a license to practice in the State of Pennsylvania BC/BE
An interest in research would be supported but is not required.
