Team Introduction The TikTok Product – Privacy and Responsibility organization builds industry-leading solutions in user privacy, minor protection, transparency, and social responsibility. Our Transparency and Responsibility team is specifically focused on fostering trust through clear and accessible information about how our platform operates. We are dedicated to building innovative features that empower users and external stakeholders with insights into our recommendation systems ensuring a safe, trustworthy, and enjoyable platform for our global community.
Responsibilities
Lead the development and execution of product strategies specifically focused on enhancing user transparency and control over their TikTok experience.
Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams (engineering, design, research, legal, comms) to deeply understand user needs and translate them into innovative product solutions that provide meaningful control and clear understanding of content recommendations.
Drive the end‑to‑end product lifecycle for features that users with clear explanations of content recommendations, accessible and intuitive in‑app tools for adjusting their content experience, and seamless mechanisms for providing meaningful feedback on their recommendations.
Champion‑centric design principles, ensuring that all transparency and control initiatives are seamlessly integrated into the TikTok in‑app experience and are easily discoverable and understandable for all users.
Monitor and analyze product performance, user feedback, and industry trends in algorithmic transparency and user empowerment to identify areas for improvement and new feature opportunities.
Act as a product owner, taking responsibility for the strategy, roadmap, and execution of some of the key features related to user transparency and controls within the TikTok app.
Contribute to providing high‑quality researcher access to relevant data (while respecting user privacy) to improve external understanding of TikTok's recommendation systems.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in product management, with a proven track record of end‑to‑end feature ownership, including defining strategy, driving execution, and analyzing impact.
Demonstrable experience building and launching successful user‑facing mobile features for a large‑scale consumer product.
Significant experience with or deep understanding of algorithm‑driven recommendation systems and the challenges and opportunities related to user transparency and control in this context.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse, global teams.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with experience using data to inform product decisions and measure the success of transparency and control features.
Passion for building user‑centric products that prioritize transparency, responsibility, and user empowerment in the context of content consumption.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience specifically building features that enhance user transparency and control over algorithmic recommendations in a consumer‑facing application.
Experience with or strong interest in online safety, digital wellbeing, or related areas, particularly as they intersect with algorithmic content delivery.
Familiarity with relevant regulations and industry best practices related to transparency, user control, and algorithmic accountability in online platforms (e.g., GDPR, DSA).
Experience conducting user research specifically focused on understanding user perceptions and needs related to algorithmic content and control mechanisms.

Job Information Compensation: $149,040 - $311,600 annually (base salary range). Additional compensation may include discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance; 401(k) plan with company match; paid parental leave; short‑term and long‑term disability coverage; life insurance; wellbeing benefits; 10 paid holidays; 10 paid sick days; and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire and increasing with tenure). The Company reserves the right to modify or change these benefits programs at any time, with or without notice.
