Position Description The Department of Teacher Education, Kinesiology, and Educational Studies in the College of Education at DePaul University invites applications for a tenure‑track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning September 1 2026. We seek a dynamic teacher‑scholar who can contribute to the Middle Grades and Secondary Education Program. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong record (or clear potential) of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
Responsibilities
Teach six undergraduate and graduate courses per academic year (September–June) in the Middle Grades and Secondary Education Program, with a focus on one or more of the following areas: science education; mathematics education; assessment; content area and disciplinary literacy; and/or human development.
Advise and mentor middle grades and secondary education majors and graduate teacher candidates.
Maintain an active and productive research and/or creative arts agenda.
Contribute to program development and teacher education accreditation/state licensure activities.
Support collaboration across the College and with relevant disciplinary departments.
Collaborate with local schools and communities to support partnerships, field‑based experiences, and professional development.
Provide service to the Middle Grades and Secondary Education Program, the Department of Teacher Education, Kinesiology, and Educational Studies, the college, and university, as appropriate.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
Earned doctorate (PhD or EdD) in relevant area of middle grades and secondary education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a closely related field (ABD considered, with degree completion by start date).
Commitment to creating a welcoming and accessible learning environment that recognizes and supports the success of every student.
Experience in professional development of middle grades and/or secondary teachers.
At least two years successful teaching experience in middle grades and/or secondary education (6th–12th grades).
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated interest in bridging research and practice in relevant area of middle grades and secondary education.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Demonstrated expertise and potential for curriculum development in one or more of the following areas: multilingual education, digital technology, and/or sustainability.
Abundant record of, or strong potential for, securing external funding.
Ability to work collaboratively across disciplinary boundaries.
Experience teaching hybrid and/or online courses.

Compensation & Benefits DePaul University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the qualifications, education, experience, and training of the selected candidate, the scope and responsibilities of the position, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

Academic Calendar Except for the College of Law, DePaul University operates on a quarter system. Classes in Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters are 11 weeks in length (including finals week) and Summer courses, in two sessions, are typically 5 weeks in length. The College of Law operates on the semester system. Classes in the Fall and Spring semesters are 16 weeks in length (including finals week) and it offers a Summer Session of 7 weeks (including final exams).
