Title:
Principal Mechanical Engineer Job Type:
Full-Time Target Start Date:
ASAP Work Location/Structure:
Hybrid (Onsite in Bedford, MA, 4-5 days/week to start, with flexibility to 3 days/week later)
About the Opportunity: Our client, a global leader in cutting‑edge robotics and electric motor technology, is looking for a skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their team. This project involves developing the next generation of robotic products that are integral to the production of advanced semiconductor chips and high‑performance electric motor applications. This is a high‑impact role that requires a self‑motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
Develop robotic and other electromechanical systems, including feasibility studies, design analysis, mechanical models, prototype construction, and product introduction.
Analyze mechanical systems and machine elements for life, stress, and deflection using related software tools, such as FEA.
Create mechanical part models, assemblies, drawings, and bills of materials using 3D CAD software.
Lead hands‑on activities to build and test prototype mechanical assemblies and conduct troubleshooting to resolve root causes of problems in mechanical systems.
Document and present designs and analysis results for review to a technical audience.
Required Skills & Experience:
10+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering role.
Deep expertise in mechanical design of machine elements and mechanisms (preferably precision mechanisms) and a strong BS in Mechanical Engineering (MS is a plus). This isn’t a learning role—you need to be a subject‑matter expert.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
Experience in engineering precision robotics or mechanisms in the Semiconductor industry or designing ultra‑high vacuum (UHV) capital equipment.
Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team and to document/present technical designs.
