JOB TITLE:
Direct Support Professional II

We are looking for a Direct Support Professional to join our team to assist individuals with disabilities to learn, grow and become more independent. If you enjoy interacting with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, we’d like to meet with you.
Momentum WORK, Inc. is seeking a Direct Support Professional II in Santa Maria, CA. Direct Support Professional responsibilities include exhibiting compassion, supporting residents, and ensuring a safe environment. They foster independence and personal choice by guiding individuals in acquiring necessary skills, such as social behavior or interpersonal competence so individuals have greater self-reliance in their day-to-day lives.
RESPONSIBILITES:
Provides on-the-job training to program participants in groups and/or individually.
Responsible for providing skill or developmental training in various activities as
designated; assists with personal care (including toileting/changing)/hygiene.
Maintains accurate and current records such as daily participant documentation.
Contributes to positive relations between community members, program participants,
vendors, and other Agency staff
Trains program participants in accessing public transportation and assists them with
community integration
Monitors, tracks, and assists program participants in goal achievement.
Organizes social and vocational groups in promoting independence.
Must be able to work at other Momentum WORK, Inc. locations, when needed.
Other related duties and responsibilities as-needed basis
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent. At least one (1) year of experience working with persons with developmental and/or other disabilities in individual and/or group settings preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to complete tasks with numerous interruptions.
Compassion and respect for persons with disabilities
Ability to demonstrate patience and understanding because people served may have intellectual, emotional, or behavioral challenges, in addition to physical limitations.
Must have a reliable phone.
Valid CA Driver’s License: must have an acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the Agency’s insurance carrier and by Agency policy.
Ability to stand, sit for long periods of time. Ability to go up and downstairs. Ability to walk for long periods of time.
