Head Custodian / Building Principal / Facilities Director Job Summary:
The Substitute Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment in school buildings and grounds during the absence of a regular custodial staff member. This position plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the school and ensuring a sanitary and functional learning environment for students and staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Perform general cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces Clean and disinfect restrooms, replenish supplies, and empty trash and recycling bins Set up and break down rooms for events, meetings, or school functions Lock and unlock doors, ensure building security Assist with minor maintenance and report facility issues to the head custodian or supervisor Maintain cleanliness of entrances, sidewalks, and outdoor areas (may include snow/ice removal as needed) Follow proper safety and sanitation procedures Other duties as assigned by supervisor Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous custodial or maintenance experience preferred but not required Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor Ability to work independently and follow directions Dependable, punctual, and professional in conduct Must pass a background check and meet district employment requirements Work Schedule:
