Position Summary The Physical Therapist or Clinical Athletic Trainer is responsible for delivering high‑quality clinical rehabilitation services. This role combines direct patient care with community outreach, injury prevention education, and collaboration with partner organizations. The ideal candidate is patient‑centered, motivated, and eager to support the growth and mission of Variable Movement LLC.
Core Responsibilities Clinical Care (Approximately 32 Hours/Week) Perform comprehensive injury evaluations and functional assessments. Design and implement evidence‑based treatment and rehabilitation plans. Provide therapeutic exercise instruction and corrective strategies. Deliver manual therapy, taping, bracing, and modality interventions within scope. Document all patient encounters in compliance with Company standards and HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with physical therapists, coaches, trainers, and other healthcare partners. Communicate progress with patients, families, and referring providers. Maintain emergency response preparedness.
Outreach & Professional Engagement (Approximately 8 Hours/Week) Provide clinical outreach to local high schools and community partners. Participate in or produce social media and marketing content related to injury prevention, performance training, or educational topics. Assist with or lead community workshops, seminars, or athletic events coordinated by Variable Movement. Engage in volunteer opportunities that strengthen community. Support initiatives that promote Company growth, awareness, and patient engagement.
Administrative & Professional Duties Maintain professional licensure and certifications required for practice. Participate in annual performance and compensation reviews. Attend Company meetings, trainings, and continuing education activities. Contribute to developing and refining treatment protocols and internal processes. Protect confidentiality and uphold standards of professionalism.
Required Qualifications Masters or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy or related field. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field. Current BOC certification as an Athletic Trainer (if an ATC). Maine state licensure (or eligibility). CPR/AED and First Aid certification. Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in outpatient rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, or sports performance. Previous work with high school or collegiate athletes. Familiarity with rehabilitative technology, performance screening, or return‑to‑sport protocols. Comfort with community outreach, marketing, or educational presentations.
Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely. Ability to assist patients with mobility, transfer tasks, or equipment setup. Ability to remain on feet for extended periods. Ability to perform manual therapy techniques requiring upper‑body strength and dexterity.
Work Environment Clinical rehabilitation setting with access to strength equipment, treatment tables, and functional training areas. Occasional travel to local schools or community sites. Collaborative team culture with emphasis on patient experience and evidence‑based care.
