As a welder at Fincantieri Marinette Marine you will:

Weld or tack weld metal parts together, using spot welding gun or hand, electric, or gas welding equipment Connect hoses from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas, and turn valves to release mixture Ignite torch and regulate flow of gas and air to obtain desired temperature, size, and color of flame Preheat work pieces preparatory to welding or bending, using torch Examine work piece for defects and measure work piece with straightedge or template to ensure conformance with specifications Climb ladders or work on scaffolds to assemble structures Signal crane operator to move large work pieces Dismantle metal assemblies or cut scrap metal, using thermal‑cutting equipment such as flame‑cutting torch or plasma‑arc equipment Position and secure parts, using hoist, crane, wire and banding machine, or hand tools Select, position, and secure torch, cutting tips, or welding rod, according to type, thickness, area, and desired temperature of metal Guide and direct flame or electrodes on or across work piece to straighten, bend, melt, or build up metal Fuse parts together, seal tension points, and add metal to build up parts Hone your welding skills, train to read and comprehend blue prints, read a tape measure, pressure gauge, level, and square Join us in this state‑of‑the‑art facility where precision meets passion, and where your manufacturing skills will shine brighter than ever before.
