What to Expect The Gigafactory Dimensional Engineering Technician will be responsible for ensuring part and measurement accuracy for current Factory Programs. This includes data analysis new process implementation, fixture tuning, fixture development, fixture scanning, and development of engineering equipment to develop and optimize these tools. They must have the ability to work with various production teams including Engineering, Quality, NPI, GA, Paint, and all levels of management.

What You'll Do

Create and maintain problem tracking systems and trend tracking for assembly fits

Actively monitor dimensional accuracy of measurement strategies thru various measurement systems (CMM, Laser gage, Check fixture, manual measurements, etc.)

Hands on position focused on part accuracy from suppliers and manufacturing assembly

Develop procedures and coach metrology technicians in proper measurement techniques

Adjust and maintain assembly fitting jigs. Input into jig modifications and changes to main controlling features

Take direct responsibility for achieving dimensional fit targets and lead all activities towards this objective

Perform setup and removal of checking fixtures with focus on quality. Use various fabrication resources to adjust tooling for best dimensional fit as needed

What You'll Bring

Minimally 5 years of experience in tooling, dimensional accuracy and metrology programming

Teamwork: Ability to establish and maintain a positive report with quality engineering, maintenance and fabrication teams as this position works closely with various departments to support production

Communication: Ability to clearly and effectively communicate about quality issues on the production floor

Proficient with manual and automatic measurement tools, fit specification in production assembly and GA. Ability to use and modify 3D modelling software including CMM programming, 3DX Experience, CNC, AutoCAD or similar

Work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines

Strong Customer and Quality focus

Ability to gather raw data and clearly summarize and present findings to Engineering, Production, and Quality Engineering

Exemplary verbal and written communication skills, with strong organization skills, and meticulous attention to detail

Mastery with common MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Good knowledge of measurement axis
