We are seeking
Carpenters
(Heavy Highway - Roadway/Bridge projects) with experience in form work for bridges/structures to work on projects in: Wallops Island, VA Hagerstown, MD SUMMARY Constructs, erects, and repairs structures; must have own hand tools. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Work while tied off to fall protection Use of necessary hand and power tools Work with level and read blueprints, sketches, or bridge plans Select materials like lumber based on plans Prepare layouts and measure materials Shape materials to required measurements Nail cleats across boards to construct forms Brace forms with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts Assemble and fasten materials with nails, dowels, or glue Set expansion dams and assemble overhang modules Climb wingwalls and retaining walls Assemble wood deck forms and construct forms and chutes for concrete pouring Assist in pouring and finishing concrete Erect scaffolding and ladders for above-ground structures QUALIFICATIONS Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Carpenter training or equivalent, or experience in bridge form work, blueprints reading, and rules. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach, and communicate. Work on uneven ground, wear steel-toed boots. Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lift up to 25 pounds regularly, 50 pounds frequently, and 100 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. WORK ENVIRONMENT Exposed to high places, weather, moving mechanical parts, fumes, electrical risks, vibration, chemicals. Noise level varies from moderate to loud. Expected base pay range: $25 - $31/hr, depending on region and experience. This range considers education, experience, licensure, certifications, location, and internal factors. Compensation decisions depend on individual circumstances. Benefits include medical, life, disability insurance, paid time off, and a 401K plan.
