Overview Position Title:

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Position Summary:

Position is responsible for troubleshooting and performing repairs on designated equipment. This includes performing routine preventive maintenance and periodic repair functions on equipment including fork trucks, vehicles, hand tools, compressed air systems, HVAC and performing lubrication and filter maintenance on all equipment. The role may involve troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and/or electrical failures on equipment including CNC machines, welding power supplies and welding accessories, weld positioners, sandblast equipment, air compressors, vehicles, manual machines, cranes, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems. The technician is responsible for establishing and adhering to repair schedules and providing technical assistance to other departments as needed. The position may also provide assistance and training to other department members during ongoing plant operations.

Accountabilities:

Responsible for ensuring equipment is in good functioning order to produce conforming components that meet all blueprint dimensions within tolerance. Ensure equipment meets the requirements of applicable codes or specifications while working efficiently. All SOPs and WIs must be followed and a safe, clean and organized work area must be maintained.

Duties:

Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs according to work instructions on equipment including machine tools, fork trucks, vehicles, air compressors, plant air systems and the HVAC system.

Perform repairs to minor equipment such as hand tools, positioners, pendants, welders, etc., and perform minor repairs to fork trucks, cranes and sandblast as needed.

Perform electrical and/or mechanical diagnostics, repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment as needed, including assessing machine failures, recommending and implementing improvements.

Ensure proper inventory and supply levels are maintained for routine maintenance programs.

Establish schedules and scope of work based on the shop work order system.

Provide assistance to fellow team members on repairs as assigned.

Provide guidance and training to all maintenance personnel as requested.

Provide technical assistance to other departments as needed.

Contact established vendors to acquire quotes, estimates and technical assistance and information on new technology.

Job Qualification Requirements:

Educational Background:

Minimum of 2 year trade school or 2 years college credit in applicable areas or other applicable skilled craft training such as a 4 year company apprenticeship or 10 years proven trade experience.

Physical Demands:

The employee is required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to floor; exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Certification Required:

Successful completion of Major Tool material handling training on boom and scissor lift, fork truck and crane.

Visual Acuity:

Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts and machinery.

Hearing Ability:

Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.

Working Conditions:

Normally works in a shop environment. The employee is subject to: high noise levels from operating machines; physical hazards from moving equipment and production components; breathing fumes, dust and mist; skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids.

The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws. Attendance is an essential job function.
