VDC/BIM Specialist The VDC/BIM Specialist will develop project execution plans, assist the Project Manager with RFPs and specifications, and utilize VDC/BIM modeling authoring software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Inventor, etc.
Responsibilities
Facilitate 3D coordination (clash/interference) issues with the Design Coordinator
Perform regular maintenance on project models (Inventor, Plant 3D, Revit)
Prepare and lead the VDC/BIM Project Execution kick‑off session
Assist Department Management in assessing project team skills, development needs and recommending VDC/BIM/CAD training
Provide input to the PM for project budget and develop the technology team work plan (DWP)
Develop Project Execution Plans, including model authorship and LOD specifications
Assist the PM with RFPs and specifications for 3D laser scanning and other outsourced BIM/VDC services
Create and review development of and deploy project‑specific model content
Process laser scan point‑cloud data for use in design and construction models
Perform specialized modeling applications such as client simulations, point‑layout extractions, etc.
Lead quality review process(es) for model content and methods within project models
Support the PM with post‑mortem sessions, capturing and documenting improvements to modeling processes and best‑known methods (BKMs)
Provide support to the PM, VDC/BIM Coordinator, discipline BIM champions and discipline modelers throughout the project
Participate in the firm’s design technology community of practice (CoP) as part of the core group leadership
Occasional travel required
Valid driver’s license required; may be waived for international assignments
Qualifications
Associate Degree with 3D CAD modeling or equivalent and 5+ years of BIM or 3D CAD experience in a professional firm setting
Advanced capability with two or more VDC/BIM authoring tools (Revit, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Inventor, etc.)
Knowledge of AutoDesk products such as Client is preferred
Capability with VDC applications such as Navisworks Manage, ReCap, Autodesk plugins (e.g. IDEATE BimLink or Model Explorer)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), BlueBeam, SharePoint, Revit Server, DMS, A360 and/or BIM 360
Demonstrated software/API customization skills and SQL database knowledge desired
Excellent communication and facilitation in team/group settings, including effective meeting planning, and understanding of design and construction process
Understanding of project delivery methods, Lean construction and concurrent engineering concepts desired
