Job Description Salary: $19.23 Make a difference in the lives of New York Citys older adults, their families and the community. For over 60 years PSS has performed vital and important work -- through its ten centers, and affiliated programs, the agency touches the lives of over 2,000 people a day. As a Program Aide at one of our senior centers you will be responsible for serving meals to center members, following food safety standards and guidelines, and assisting in programming to keep our members healthy, engaged and connected. This role is crucial to the health and wellness of our members.
This position reports to the Program Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve meals to center members. Prepare food to be served. Follow safety guidelines for food handling and service. Creating and posting menus. Cleaning of equipment and work surfaces. Assist Center Program Coordinator with programming. Engaging with members. Facilitating group workshops. Promoting center activities. Locations changes may occur if coverage is needed at another OAC or the OAC is closed temporarily. Occasional weekends, holidays and evening hours may be required, this includes Cooling Center hours during the summer months Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience working with Older Adults preferred Excellent Interpersonal and Organizational Skills Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office Excellent communication skills (written and oral) Must be able to manually move, pull, carry, push or lift heavy objects or materials (25-60lbs). Must be able to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, climb or balance, sit and reach. Physical stamina is required with the ability to lift heavy objects and work for long periods while standing Experience working with Older Adults preferred Excellent Interpersonal Skills
