Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced

General Surgical Pathologist/Director of Molecular Pathology

to lead our Molecular Pathology Division in Dallas, Texas. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing molecular pathology operations, ensuring clinical excellence, driving innovation, and fostering collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. In addition to molecular pathology expertise, the ideal candidate must have extensive experience in

general surgical pathology , with the ability to evaluate and interpret a broad spectrum of surgical specimens across diverse subspecialties.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy:

Provide visionary leadership to the Molecular Pathology Division, aligning with the organization's mission and strategic goals. Oversee clinical, operational, and research activities within the molecular pathology laboratory. Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including CLIA, CAP, and state requirements.

Clinical Operations:

Direct and supervise molecular diagnostic services, including assay development and validation. Interpret complex molecular test results, including NGS, PCR, FISH, and other diagnostic modalities. pply extensive general surgical pathology expertise to evaluate a variety of specimen types, including but not limited to biopsies, resections, and intraoperative consultations (frozen sections). Collaborate with pathologists, clinicians, and healthcare providers to guide diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making.

Integration of Molecular and Surgical Pathology:

Combine molecular diagnostic insights with traditional surgical pathology findings to provide comprehensive and actionable diagnostic reports. Serve as a resource for integrating molecular data into pathology workflows and contributing to multidisciplinary tumor boards and clinical case discussions.

Innovation & Research:

Develop and implement new molecular assays and technologies to expand the laboratory's test menu. Stay abreast of advancements in molecular and surgical pathology and integrate cutting-edge methodologies into clinical practice. Support translational research and contribute to publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Team Management:

Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of molecular pathologists, general pathologists, technologists, and laboratory personnel. Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and excellence.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of molecular pathology and general pathology test results. Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory performance and patient outcomes.

Collaboration:

Build strong relationships with referring physicians, hospitals, and external stakeholders. Partner with internal departments such as pathology, genetics, and informatics to advance personalized medicine.

Qualifications

MD or DO with board certification in Molecular Genetic Pathology (ABMGG, ABP, or equivalent). Board certification in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology required. Eligible for or holding a Texas medical license. Minimum of 5 years of experience in molecular pathology, with demonstrated leadership experience preferred. Extensive experience in general surgical pathology, including:

Proficiency in evaluating a wide range of surgical specimens across subspecialties such as gastrointestinal, gynecologic, breast, genitourinary, thoracic, and soft tissue pathology. Expertise in performing and interpreting intraoperative consultations (frozen sections). Strong diagnostic skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Proficiency in molecular diagnostic technologies, including NGS, PCR, and FISH. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Commitment to advancing patient care through innovation and collaboration.
