Data Analyst

The Data Analyst supports the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) Agency Information Management and Software Services (AIMSS) program by enhancing data visibility, quality, and usability across the test data management lifecycle. This role bridges data management operations and technical analysis—leveraging structured methods, tools, and reporting to improve efficiency, ensure metadata consistency, and identify opportunities for process improvement.

The Data Analyst works closely with Data Managers, Data Scientists, and software engineers to transform mission data into actionable information that supports decision-making, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement of MDA’s test data workflows. This position is located at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and track test data delivery timelines, quality, and metadata completeness to identify trends, bottlenecks, and performance opportunities.
  • Aggregate and reconcile data from multiple AIMSS systems to create unified datasets for operational analysis and reporting.
  • Analyze AIMSS processes to measure throughput, identify redundancies, and recommend automation or standardization improvements.
  • Develop and maintain data quality, timeliness, and storage utilization metrics in alignment with MDA performance goals.
  • Build and maintain reporting dashboards and visualizations using Power BI or similar tools to communicate performance indicators to government stakeholders.
  • Support verification of data completeness, accuracy, and metadata compliance. Conduct periodic QA spot checks and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Ensure test data meets defined metadata standards; support implementation of metadata dictionaries and validation rules in collaboration with the Data Management Working Group (DMWG).
  • Collaborate with Data Managers and Data Scientists to evaluate technical solutions that enhance workflow efficiency, such as automation scripts or GenAI-based assistants.
  • Interface with Mission Data Owners (MDOs), Joint Analysis Teams (JATs), and AIMSS leadership to report findings, clarify data issues, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain traceability of data sources, analytical logic, and transformation steps in accordance with MDA governance and security standards.
  • Contribute to lessons learned, SOP improvements, and cross‑training initiatives to strengthen team proficiency.
  • Support ad hoc analytical requests, recurring reporting, and data calls as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
