Position Summary

Indiana University School of Nursing (IUSON) is seeking exceptional candidates for the position of Associate Dean, Indianapolis campus. This 12-month appointment provides leadership to translate strategy into actionable plans, coordinate across units, and oversee day-to-day operations on the Indianapolis campus. The Associate Dean reports to the Dean and serves as the tactical and operational leader on the appointed campus.

The role includes 60% administrative duties, 20% research or scholarly activities, 10% teaching, and 10% service.

The position offers in-person work arrangements with access to institutional resources, onboarding, campus engagement, and networking opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations related to faculty success, including recruitment, appointment, mentoring, workload, evaluation, promotion, tenure, sabbaticals, and misconduct.
  • Ensure approved course offerings are successful and aligned with core school accreditation, clinical site requirements, and other regulations.
  • Review and render decisions on students’ academic/grade appeals.
  • Oversee operations related to nurse-managed clinics, clinical practice partners, and private industry.
  • Oversee operations of new initiatives and funding.
  • Administer the unit budget in collaboration with fiscal officers.
  • Represent the IUSON local campus at relevant campus and university meetings and events.
  • Represent the IUSON local campus at regional, national, and international levels to garner recognition for the campus and core and further the reputational agenda.
  • Maintain accountability for campus faculty performance metrics related to delivery of courses, research, and service.

Qualifications

  • PhD; nursing major preferred and master’s in nursing.
  • Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a registered nurse in Indiana.
  • Eligible for appointment as a Tenured Full Professor with declared area of excellence in teaching or research.
  • Academic leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with teaching and curriculum development in nursing at the undergraduate and/or graduate level(s).
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a large, complex organization.
