Position Overview The Department of American Indian Studies seeks students as Graduate Assistants. Appointments are contingent upon adequate funding. The Graduate Assistant is a student position for those actively enrolled in a graduate program at Fresno State. Students are limited to 20‑hours of part-time work on campus.
Responsibilities Assist faculty with research and preparation of course materials
Provide research assistance and practical experience in fields related to advanced study
Compile water and farm data for the San Joaquin Valley from existing Groundwater Sustainability Agency databases
Compile California water data from state water databases
Compile Tribal and Allottee data from California state databases
Create water maps and Tribal water maps for the San Joaquin Valley
Qualifications Minimum GPA 3.0; applicants with a 3.5 or higher are preferred
International students must have a TOEFL score of 600 or better
Must enroll in at least 6 units (three of which must be graduate units) for the semester or in two courses applicable to program of study
Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
Previous TA experience at Fresno State considered; peer and student evaluations reviewed
Experience with GIS and/or other mapping software

Salary Salary is based on Weighted Teaching Units assigned. Please check with your department for your Base Salary.
