Key Responsibilities

Partner with regional management and Global Transit Market Sector Director to develop and execute transit and rail market strategies throughout the Central Region.

Assess market opportunities, manage client relationships, coordinate technical and marketing teams, and oversee program and project management.

Grow and develop staff, improve technical competencies to meet client needs and market drivers.

Lead strategic projects and programs across market sectors and geographic areas, including senior technical support, quality oversight and best‑practice development.

Drive program growth for transit, intercity, and freight rail market sectors and support strategic growth across the region.

Assist the Global Transit Market Sector Director with vision setting and winning contracts within the market, supporting continuous improvement and professional development.

Additional Duties

Strategic Project and Program Leadership – oversee multi‑disciplinary projects and programs, including large capital programs, traditional project execution, and alternative delivery.

Strategic Planning and Program Growth – lead program growth, recruit and develop staff, coordinate major pursuit efforts, and support capture planning, proposal preparation, presentations, and negotiations.

Global Transit Market Sector Program Growth – collaborate with the Global Director to expand services and win contracts, ensuring alignment with market needs and staff development.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of experience in transportation planning and/or engineering with primary focus on the market sector.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, planning or related field; engineering registration if applicable.

Experience developing and managing strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services.

Experience managing client relationships and pursuing projects.

Experience in overall staff development, recruiting, career paths and professional growth.

Active membership in industry associations and a visible profile in the market sector.

Ability to collaborate with Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors and other business leaders.

Commitment to HDR values and employee‑owned culture.

Preferred Qualifications

15 years in leading transit engineering and planning services for major transportation infrastructure projects.

Experience with major capital programs from planning through design and construction for federal, state, local and private clients.

Deep client relationships with transit and rail agencies or private entities in the Central Region.

Experience with transit funding programs and eligibility requirements.

Experience developing strategic marketing programs for the transportation industry.

Compensation & Benefits Typical annual salary for this position (Colorado):

$162,205 – $210,430 . Salary varies by skill, experience, education and location.
