Job Summary A Senior Tax Manager works closely with partners, staff, and clients to plan, manage, review, and complete client engagements. The role requires a motivated leader who will become an integral part of the firm’s office, helping clients minimize tax liability and remain compliant with ever‑changing tax laws, while providing consulting and compliance services such as stock‑option planning, international tax advice, and expert consultation on mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and liquidations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage and conduct high‑level review of complex tax returns for individual clients, business returns, and trust returns.
Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations, advising clients on their impact and opportunities.
Lead tax engagements from start to finish, including planning, budgeting, monitoring fees, execution, and delivery.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships by providing exceptional service and understanding their business needs.
Collaborate with partners, senior managers, seniors, and staff to integrate practice‑development skills into a team‑based client service and new‑business development approach.
Lead client meetings and presentations, demonstrating strong communication skills and the ability to articulate tax‑related concepts clearly and effectively.
Monitor engagement profitability through managing budgets, billing, and client expectations.
Actively participate in and lead business‑development efforts, including networking, attending industry events, and assisting with proposals to attract new clients.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree in Accounting.
Active CPA license.
8+ years of passthrough tax experience in public accounting.
Experience in tax compliance and consulting for passthrough entities.
Strong background in preparing and reviewing partnership and S‑corporation tax returns (e.g., Forms 1065 and 1120S).
Experience with multi‑state tax filings and nexus considerations.
Proven expertise in overseeing complex client engagements and delivering high‑quality client service.
Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., CCH Axcess) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to develop tax‑planning strategies for clients.
Experience supervising, training, developing, and reviewing the work of staff and senior associates.
Work Location and Compensation Hybrid work model. Salary range: $145,000–$160,000 annually (additional variation by location).
