Job Description Position Overview

The Civil Litigation Associate will handle a variety of civil matters from intake through trial and appeal. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, a strong writer and advocate, and comfortable managing cases independently while working within a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage all phases of civil litigation, including case assessment, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.

Conduct legal research, draft memoranda, and prepare high-quality briefs, motions, and other court filings.

Attend court conferences, hearings, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations.

Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and external stakeholders.

Assist partners with trial strategy, witness preparation, and courtroom presentation.

Maintain organized case files and meet all deadlines and procedural requirements.

Participate in firm meetings, practice development, and training opportunities.

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school.

Licensed to practice in [State]; federal admission is a plus.

1-5 years of civil litigation experience preferred.

Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills.

Proven ability to handle cases independently and manage competing priorities.

Experience with depositions, motion practice, and court appearances.
