– Project Renewal Program Overview
The Barbara Kleiman Men’s Shelter is a 200-bed, 24/7 emergency shelter for homeless men. The program serves both individuals diagnosed with mental illness and/or substance use disorders (approximately 130 residents) and individuals who are employed or seeking employment (approximately 70 residents). Our comprehensive services include case management, individual and group counseling, mental health care, primary medical care, recreational activities, occupational therapy, employment services, job readiness services, and housing placement assistance. $45,740–$49,740 annually Position Overview
Under the direction of the Program Director, the Administrative Assistant performs a variety of administrative duties to support the Director and maintain program operations. The role requires some independent action and oversight of key administrative processes. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provide administrative and secretarial support to the Program Director and supervisory staff of maintenance, social services, and operations departments. Process petty cash reimbursement. Manage the Dayforce system for shelter staff and interns. Process all paperwork for personnel actions, including new hires, separated staff, recruitment flyers, and related matters. Maintain accurate records of building inspections, incidents, and hospitalizations. Organize and maintain a proper filing system for the office. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director. Be available to work evenings and weekends. Physical Activities
While performing duties, you must navigate the facility by foot, climb stairs, sit for extended periods at a computer, reach or squat to retrieve records from files, and lift or move material up to 15 pounds. Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. At least 2 years of clerical work experience, including a minimum of 1 year working with homeless individuals or individuals diagnosed with mental illness and/or substance use disorder. Preferred Skills
Team building: ability to develop and foster a team spirit, enabling staff to overcome challenges in serving a special client population. Communication: excellent oral, written, and listening skills. Organizational: ability to work well under high pressure and meet short- and long-term mandates. Interpersonal: ability to interface with all levels of staff while maintaining confidentiality.
