Role Overview Disney’s Android team seeks an expert Software Engineer to develop scalable, sophisticated solutions for Disney+ and Star+ across phones, tablets, and TVs. You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams, maintain high code‑quality standards with unit and automated tests, and contribute to building the best Live and Video‑on‑Demand (VOD) applications in the world.
Responsibilities As an Android Engineer, you’ll own entire features, debug complex issues (memory leaks, lifecycle problems), plan and document changes, and collaborate with mentors and less experienced engineers.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of experience and 2+ years of production experience with Kotlin and the Android SDK
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related technical field
Experience with Reactive Programming and Dependency Injection
Familiarity with architectural patterns such as MVI/MVVM
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
Coachability and openness to constructive feedback
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with Android libraries such as Dagger 2 / Hilt, RxJava2, Groupie
Deep understanding of the Android SDK, Activity and Fragment lifecycles, and thread management
Experience with unit testing, test automation, and continuous integration
Familiarity with Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, or similar platforms
Knowledge of Kotlin, Java, Gradle, Databases, Reactive paradigms, and coroutines
Compensation Hiring range varies by location: Seattle & New York – $120,300 to $161,300; Santa Monica & Glendale – $114,900 to $154,100; San Francisco – $125,800 to $168,700 per year. Base pay depends on internal equity, geography, and candidate experience. Additional bonuses, long‑term incentives, and comprehensive benefits packages are offered.
