Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience that demonstrates necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

3–5 years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experience, including demonstrated success in individual giving, corporate sponsorships, grant writing, and/or major gifts.

3–5 years of nonprofit leadership or managerial experience, including supervising staff and/or leading teams and volunteers.

Experience working with or supporting a nonprofit board of directors (preferred).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must have current government‑issued identification.

Terms of Employment 8 Hours/230 Days.

Administrative Salary Schedule (Group E - Coordinator Schedule).

Full‑time during the school year; adjustments for part‑time or less than an entire school year.

General Summary This position provides strategic leadership, drives fund development and manages operations to advance the Foundation’s mission of supporting education and enriching the quality of life in our community by raising and managing funds. The ideal candidate is a relationship‑driven fundraiser, a confident leader and a passionate champion of public education who can grow resources and strengthen partnerships.

Essential Functions

Supports and upholds the mission, vision and strategic goals of Lexington County School District One toward increased outcomes for students.

Interacts, communicates and collaborates with all stakeholders effectively.

Establishes a safe, supportive, positive and productive working and learning environment.

Operates general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities.

Maintains confidentiality regarding all employee and student information.

Participates in all professional meetings and training sessions as required.

Requests and maintains materials needed for daily responsibilities and essential functions; provides for safe storage and proper use of all tools, equipment and materials.

Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.

Relationship Management & Board Partnership

Ensures the mission, vision, and strategic plan of the Foundation is implemented to the fullest extent possible and aligned with the Board’s strategic priorities.

Provides necessary structures and supports to encourage successful board engagement, board governance and board committee work.

Identifies, recruits, and develops volunteer leadership to support events, campaigns, and initiatives, ensuring continuity and long‑term success.

Serves as a liaison between district leadership, school staff, the Foundation, and the broader community to align efforts in support of public education.

Works with the Board of Directors to implement a comprehensive marketing and public relations strategy for the Foundation that includes the use of social media, websites and media coverage.

Reports to the board of directors on the work of the foundation and issues that may affect the foundation, providing a flow of communication between the foundation board and the school district.

Program, Scholarship and Grant Management

Oversees development and implementation of scholarship programs for Lexington One students, including managing application processes, facilitating committee reviews, and ensuring funds are awarded and disbursed in accordance with donor intent.

Oversees classroom, school and district grant programs funded by the Foundation, ensuring alignment with district priorities and donor expectations.

Facilitates the annual LEAP campaign among school district employees, including messaging, marketing and reporting the impact and purpose of LEAP funds.

Establishes and manages a compassionate application and review process for those seeking LEAP emergency funds and ensures timely and appropriate responses.

Ensures that all programs funded by the Foundation are monitored for impact and that results are reported back to donors, the Board and the community when appropriate.

Operations & Staff Leadership

Provides leadership and supervision to assigned staff members, setting clear expectations and supporting professional growth.

Develops and maintains internal policies and procedures that support effective, efficient and compliant Foundation operations.

Ensures proper record‑keeping, reporting, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations and best practices in nonprofit management.

Cultivates a collaborative, mission‑focused team culture centered on integrity, accountability and service.

Other Skills and Abilities Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Lexington County School District One Board policies, including reliable transportation. Experience with Microsoft Office and related software. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community, and communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Capable of organizing and implementing a flexible work schedule to meet reporting deadlines, and self‑monitoring multiple tasks. Knowledge of district policies, procedures, and operations. Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and student records. Ability to interact professionally with supervisors, co‑workers, teachers, students and the general public.

Physical Demands Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasionally push/pull items. Regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, listen, reach with hands and arms. Requires close and distance vision. May work irregular or extended hours. Frequent use of a computer monitor and related equipment.

Work Environment Primarily indoors; noise level varies from quiet to loud. Occasionally involves physical demands such as lifting or moving items weighing up to 25 pounds. Requires constant attention and tight deadlines, local travel, and occasional overnight travel.

Evaluation Performance is evaluated annually according to Board Policy.
