Reports To: Director of IT

Location: Houston Office

Type: Full-Time, Hybrid

The IT Technical Lead is the hands‑on technical owner responsible for implementing the IT strategy defined by the Director of IT. This role translates high‑level vision into architecture, configurations, and working systems across Microsoft 365 E5, device management, endpoint security, and core IT infrastructure. You’ll lead the day‑to‑day technical delivery of projects (including the Google Workspace → Microsoft 365 migration), oversee key platforms, and provide guidance to a small team of IT System Administrators, while still being deeply involved in the actual building and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities Technical Implementation & Architecture

Translate the IT roadmap into detailed technical designs and implementation plans.

Lead technical execution for projects such as the Google Workspace → Microsoft 365 migration.

Own the configuration and ongoing optimization of M365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Defender).

Systems & Infrastructure

Design, implement, and maintain core IT infrastructure (identity, networking, VPN, Wi‑Fi, conferencing, etc.).

Ensure systems are reliable, scalable, and documented.

Partner with vendors and service providers to deliver robust solutions.

Device Management & Endpoint Security

Own MDM/endpoint management tooling (e.g., Intune / Endpoint Manager) and policies.

Standardize device images, patching, security baselines, and compliance policies.

Monitor and respond to endpoint security alerts in coordination with security stakeholders.

Operations, Support & Tooling

Help select, configure, and maintain the ITSM/ticketing platform.

Act as an escalation point for complex incidents and requests.

Drive automation and scripting to reduce manual work and improve consistency.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

Provide technical mentorship and day‑to‑day direction to IT System Administrators.

Work closely with the Director of IT and business stakeholders to understand needs and priorities.

Contribute to IT standards, runbooks, and documentation.

Requirements Experience

5–7+ years in IT engineering / system administration roles, with 1–2+ years in a senior or lead capacity.

Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Defender).

Practical experience with MDM/endpoint management (Intune / Endpoint Manager or similar).

Background managing Windows and macOS endpoints in a corporate environment.

Experience in a high‑growth or multi‑site company is a plus.

Technical Skills

Solid understanding of identity and access management (Azure AD / Entra ID, SSO, MFA).

Strong grasp of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi‑Fi, firewalls).

Scripting/automation skills (PowerShell preferred).

Familiarity with IT security best practices across endpoints, email, and SaaS.

Soft Skills

Comfortable owning complex technical problems end‑to‑end.

Strong communicator who can explain trade‑offs to non‑technical stakeholders.

Collaborative, solutions‑oriented, and comfortable in a fast‑paced environment.

Nice to Have

Experience with Google Workspace → Microsoft 365 migrations.

Exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar frameworks.

Experience in manufacturing, energy, or hardware‑software environments.
